Funerals
A Church of England funeral is available to everyone, churchgoer or not. Our aim is to support you before, during and after the service, for as long as it may be needed.
A church funeral can be held at the crematorium, by the graveside at the cemetery, or in our historic parish church where funerals have taken place for hundreds of years.
The message at all Church of England funerals, wherever they happen, is one of hope. Although there is sadness because someone you know and love has died, in every Church of England funeral there will also be a message of hope in life after death.
When you need to arrange a funeral for a loved-one, simply advise your funeral director that you would like a priest from Steyning Parish Church to officiate. The Vicar or a colleague will visit you to help you plan the service according to the family’s wishes.
Our Vicar Fr Mark Heather would be very pleased to give you advice if you are thinking about choosing hymns and prayers for your own funeral. You can contact him by email or telephone 01903 879877. Or click here for a helpful guide to arranging a funeral in the Church of England.
FEES FOR FUNERALS are set by the Church of England nationally and are the same whether the funeral is at church or the crematorium. Costs are normally arranged and paid through the funeral director.
