How to Get to the Church

Coming by Car

Follow the A283 towards Steyning from either the A27 or A24. Go into Steyning town.

At the roundabout by the White Horse Pub, go along Church Street and follow the road. You will see the church lychgate at the end of Church Street, opposite Steyning Library. Walk through the lychgate to get to the church. The Parish Office is located within the Penfold Church Hall next door to the library.

Fletchers Croft car park (BN44 3XZ) is opposite the church. This is a pay and display car park (from 0900 until 1800 Monday to Saturday. Parking is free on Sundays and bank holidays).

Getting Here on Public Transport

The number 2 bus, which is operated by Brighton and Hove buses, runs from Rottingdean in Brighton via Brighton and Shoreham-by-Sea to Steyning.

The 100 bus, which is operated by Compass buses, runs from Horsham via Slinfold, Billingshurst, Pulborough, Storrington to Steyning then onto Henfield and Burgess Hill.

The 106 bus, which is operated by Compass buses, runs between Henfield and Worthing via Steyning.

Catch the train to Shoreham-by-Sea railway station which is five miles away. The church is usually less than a 15-minute taxi ride from the station, or you can pickup the number 2 bus there (see above).

Accessibility & Level Access

Everyone is welcome to our services. We have a good sound system and an audio ‘T’ Induction loop. Please ask if you need large-print readings or hymns for worship.

There are several steps down from our main door into our ancient church, and our ancient floor in uneven in places so please watch your step. For those who can’t manage these with the banister, level access is available through our north east door. To find it, follow the tarmac path anti-clockwise around the church, and look out for the signs on the ground. This level access for is opened for all popular services but we regret that we cannot keep it open every day.

SHOULD YOU REQUIRE LEVEL ACCESS TO THE CHURCH AT OTHER TIMES please be in touch the Parish Office or the Vicarage. With sufficient notice we can also provide ramps for wheel-chair access to all parts of the building. Scroll up this page for full addresses and all contact details. You can read about our long-term plans for better access and other building improvements here.

The Penfold Hall has level access by way of the ramp that runs from the courtyard between the entrances of Steyning Library and Steyning Museum. If you are hiring the hall, please ensure that level access is available for your event.
