Reflections
Reflections is a service, of about 40 minutes in length, intended for quiet contemplation and private prayer. It is led by a small team of lay church members, and does not follow any particular liturgical order. It is built around a period of silence, and comprises:
- Music, usually recorded but sometimes played live, which can be modern, classical, traditional or faith-based, but always with a spiritual feel.
- Readings, which can be poetry, prose, modern or traditional, Bible verses or a short Bible passage, but always with a relevance to the theme of the service.
- Contemplative silence, 12-15 minutes in length, with dimmed lighting, for quiet contemplation and private prayer. You are free to remain in your seat or to move to any part of the church where you may find inspiration or peace.
Reflections is lay-led, non-liturgical, and is ideal for those who may not like organised religion. That is to say – no dog collars – (although we usually ask a member of the clergy to give the final blessing).
