Revd Caroline Armitage
Our former Ordinand, Caroline Armitage, was ordained as a priest by Bishop Ruth, the Bishop of Horsham, at St Mary’s Horsham on Saturday 3 June.
Caroline celebrated her first Eucharists on Sunday 4 June in her parish, first at St Michael’s Partridge Green, and afterwards at St George’s West Grinstead. Our Fr Mark preached at both of those services.

On Sunday 7 May we held a special choral service of commemoration for the Coronation, attended by over 150 people. Afterwards there were refreshments in the Vicarage garden, to which all were invited. We thank all who were involved – singing, catering, organising or just attending. You helped us do justice to this historic event.
You can hear an audio recording of the service, and watch a video of Fr Mark’s sermon, on our sermons page.

Our good friends from the wonderful Steyning Bookshop are holding ‘An immersive evening of mesmerising melodies, pagan poetry and spoken word’ on 3 May.
SWIFT WINGS is a haunting performance piece featuring Justin Hopper reading Victor Neuberg’s Sussex landscape poems, set to Kraus’s original music performed live on recorders, flutes, synths & vocals, with hypnotic visuals by Wendy Pye.
The poet Victor Neuburg is best known for his early, tragic relationship with the infamous Aleister Crowley and, later, for ‘discovering’ Dylan Thomas. But he was also a prolific writer and poet, and ran a small publishing press from his home in Vine Cottage in Steyning during the 1920s, publishing writers from the Bohemian subculture.
David Bramwell’s CULT OF WATER will take you on a magical odyssey, in search of the occult secrets of our rivers, and a drowned village which has long haunted his memories.
THE EVENING WILL ALSO FEATURE
A short talk by Victor Neuberg’s daughter Caroline Neuberg on her father’s life, work & legacy.

At the Steyning Society AGM on 21 April, the society made the first of what is to become an annual presentation of its Steyning Bowl awards.
We are pleased to note that Steyning Parish Church of St Andrew & St Cuthman received a Highly Commended award for the church lighting project. Steyning Society was one of several contributors to the churchyard path lighting. We thank them for this recognition.
The image shows Fr Mark receiving the certificate (which will be displayed in the Parish Office) from the Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex, Lady Emma Barnard.

Sharing Stories
As part of our Collaborative Ministry programme, under the Diocesan ‘Growing the Household of Faith’ initiative, we will be speaking to people from our congregation about their life, their faith, what their ministry brings to our church, and how we may be able to develop these things to help grow our church.
This will take the place of the sermon on selected Sundays – we hope to start on next Sunday, 23 April.
Please join us as we try to grow our ministry, our welcome and our teaching.
To lean more about Collaborative Ministry, this video from the diocese gives an explanation, while this video explains what one church in the diocese has done.
