ANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETING

Please join us after the 9:30 Music Group Eucharist on Sunday 18 May for our Annual Parochial Church Meeting, preceded by the Annual Parish Meeting for the election of churchwardens.

This is your chance to elect a new Parochial Church Council (we hope you are happy with the current one, but there are some vacant slots and we would love to hear some new voices). You will be able to receive reports about how well we have done over the past year – or how badly, but we think we are making good progress.

On 7 June in St Andrew’s & St Cuthman’s Church, the Chanctonbury Chorus, together with guest musicians and professional soloists, will be celebrating nature in all its forms through music ranging from 16th century madrigals to 21st century jazz.

Exciting news – children’s church relaunched

Our new look Children’s Church takes place on the first and fourth Sundays of the month.

Our sessions will include crafts, teaching and worship. We will start in church at the 9.30 service then head out to our group and will return to join the rest of the church family for the Eucharist.

Join comedian, broadcaster and writer Robin Ince for an evening of entertaining and insightful discussion about neurodiversity, as he celebrates the release of his new book Normally Weird and Weirdly Normal: My Adventures in Neurodiversity.
Robin uses his own experiences to explore the neurodivergent experience and to ask what the point of ‘being normal’ really is. Packed with personal insights, intimate anecdotes and interviews with psychologists, neuroscientists and many neurodivergent people he has met along the way, this is a quirky and witty dive into the world of human behaviour.

 The Friends of Steyning Parish Church are hosting another of the popular concerts by the Hanover Band, in church on 12 April at 7pm.

The band will perform Bach’s St John Passion, with the full orchestra and chorus. Tickets are available from Steyning Bookshop, or here, where you can find more information about the event.

Shrove Tuesday (4 March), Pancakes and coffee in Steyning Parish Church, 3:15pm to 5:15pm.

Ash Wednesday (5 March)  Holy Communion with imposition of ashes, in Steyning Parish Church.
Two services: Said Eucharist at 11:30am;
Choral Eucharist at 7pm

Tuesday 11 March, 10:45am, Launch of Diocesan Lent Course (with coffee and tea), in the Penfold Hall (or in church depending on numbers attending). All are welcome. The course will continue in our House Groups; although some House Groups have now reached capacity there may be spaces in the newer groups.

The celebration service for our deanery was held in Steyning, in the Steyning Grammar School Drama Hall, with Bishop Ruth (Bishop of Horsham) presiding, on 22 January 2025. Our music group provided the music, and our choir joined others from the deanery for a special sung version of St Richard’s Prayer.
