Our Special Guest from Ramallah
There will be two opportunities for us to hear from the Rector of Ramallah, Fr Fadi Diab this weekend:
- Today (4 July) from 8:15pm to 10pm (timed to follow the FSW fundraising concert), Fr Fadi will be speaking at the Steyning Centre on the theme: ‘Peace in the Middle East: an impossible dream?’
- Tomorrow, at our Sung Eucharist, Fr Fadi will be interviewed about what it means to be a Christian today in the land of Christ’s birth, what the Christian community is doing to survive and work for peace in the Holy Land.
Both these events will be a followed by an opportunity to ask questions.
Born and educated in the West Bank, Fr Fadi is the Rector of St Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Ramallah and St Peter’s, Birzeit and Chair of the Holy Land Committee for the charity, the Friends of the Holy Land. Dr Diab is a member of the Palestine-Israeli Theologians Forum, a member of the Palestine Advisory Council of the Episcopal Peace Fellowship and co-author of Kairos Palestine document and board member on Kairos-Palestine. He is also a founding member of Youth Connection for Peace Programme.
At each event, there will be a retiring collection for the grassroots projects run by the Friends of the Holy Land, directed towards some of the most urgent needs in parishes and communities in the West Bank and Gaza.
Reflections Tomorrow Evening
The theme for our monthly informal and quiet service of music, prayer and reflection for the first Sunday of the month is inspired by the words of Jesus at Matthew 28:20: ‘And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age’.
These services run for between 40 and 45 minutes. All are welcome.
Something for your Diary? – 28 July
The new Archdeacon of Chichester, the Venerable Dr Tom Carpenter will be the preacher at Sung Evensong to celebrate the Festival of St James at St James’s Ashurst on Sunday, 28 July at 4pm. Please save the date in your dairies and joins us for this special annual service, and why not invite a friend. All are welcome.
